Victor Ries was a sculptor and metal craftsman who specialized in religious art. He was born in Germany and studied in Berlin before moving to Palestine (1933-1947), where he taught for two years at the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts. After he arrived in San Francisco (1947), he taught at the College of Marin and at the California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC) in Oakland. His artwork has been shown in major museums, synagogues, temples, and churches in the United States.
